The NBA offered a lot of great individual performances last night. The best scorer of the current season, Joel Embiid, broke the 70-point mark for the first time in his career. Karl-Anthony Towns, although he scored 62 points, it wasn’t enough for his team to win. Luka Doncic and Janis Adetokunb both had triple-doubles.

Joel Embiid broke the 70-point mark for the first time

Philadelphia 76ers vs San Antonio Spurs (133:123). Moreover, the two-time league’s top scorer Joel Embiid literally “exploded” in this game. It was the third time in this season that he broke the 50-point mark.

But this time he went even higher. He scored 70 points. He improved his personal best by a full 11 points! It is the eighth time in his career that he has broken the 50 mark. He was also very valid again under the basket, where he scored 18 rebounds and added 5 assists.

He was almost infallible at the free throw line, where he successfully converted 21 out of 23 attempts. He also had good shooting from the field. In the whole game he made 41 shot attempts and 24 of them ended up in the basket. He managed this heroic performance in less than 37 minutes on the court.

This was San Antonio’s 35th defeat in the current season. The only one who put up more resistance on the Spurs side was rookie of the year aspirant Victor Wembanyama.

He led the 76ers with 33 points. Embiid also set a new Philadelphia club record. His previous mark was 68 points, set by Wilt Chamberlain on December 16, 1967.

Towns’ 62 points weren’t enough for Minnesota to win

Karl-Anthony Towns gave a heroic performance in the Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Charlotte Hornets (125:128). He also scored a new personal best of 62 points. However, even this heroic performance was not enough to win the game.

Charlotte had a total of five double-digit scorers led by Miles Bridges who scored 28 points. A small band-aid for Towns was that he at least broke three Minnesota club records after a night of his life. The first in points per game, the second in points in a half (44) and the third in threes made (10).

Doncic and Adetokunbo recorded a triple-double

Luka Doncic recorded another triple-double on the season, but needed 30 shot attempts to score 33 points. Boston’s best NBA team was led by the traditional duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, who combined for 73 points.

The Celtics won 119-110 against the Mavericks. It Janis Adetokunbo finished with a triple-double of 31 points , 17 rebounds and 10 assists to win on the floor of the NBA’s weakest team Detroit in the ratio (122:113).
