Noskova continues her great performances and will play in the Brisbane semi-finals!

Nineteen-year-old Czech Linda Noskova continues with a tournament in Brisbane. How did she fare against the 16-year-old Russian Andreyeva and who is waiting for her in the final?

The 19-year-old Czech has become an expert at long matches in Brisbane. In all three of her appearances she was forced to complete a three-set battle. Three times she has ended a set in a tiebreak.

But most important of all, in all three cases she was happy to win at the end of the match. And advancing. In the quarterfinals, she faced a very interesting opponent. That was Russia’s Andreeva.

The 16-year-old opponent

Noskova did not enter the quarterfinal match as a favorite. Her 16-year-old opponent, Mirra Andreeva, has not lost a set so far in the tournament.

The Russian is considered a megatalent on a global scale. She is the only player in the top 100 who has not reached the age of majority. She is still one and a half years away from the 18-year mark.

The first set of the match between Noskova and Andreeva confirmed the tradition of the Czech’s previous matches and was very even. The native of Vsetín lost her opening game when she was serving, but turned it around to 5: 3.

The Russian levelled the match, but it was again a great finish to the set that decided the first set. Noskova won it 7:5.

The second set finally broke the usual length of matches and the Czech finally outplayed the Russian youngster 6: 3. Noskova helped herself with five aces in the second set and her 2:0 win on sets means.

Noskova also had a great start to the season last year. In Adelaide, Australia, a year ago, she fought her way from qualification to the final, where she fell to Belarusian Sabalenka.

In the semi-finals, another big challenge awaits the Czech tennis hope. She will face Kazakhstan’s Rybakina. Let’s hope that she will make the beginning of this year more interesting by advancing to the tournament finals.
