It’s another milestone, an opportunity to reflect on the work you’ve done, says McDavid, who reached 900 points the fastest in franchise history

Connor McDavid is an unstoppable machine. He reached the 900-point mark in Tuesday’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers. What did he accomplish… He’s surpassed that mark. After a five-point avalanche, he’s currently at 903 career points. And in the 5:2 win, he scored one goal and assisted on four others. In addition, his Edmonton is riding a wave of six straight wins.

Edmonton defeated Philadelphia 5-2 in their last NHL game to record their sixth straight win. Connor McDavid scored all of the Oilers’ goals, surpassing the 900 career point mark with five points against the Flyers.

The 26-year-old Canadian forward scored in the first period at 15:55. McDavid drove almost the entire rink for the first goal and although he had the opportunity to pass the puck to his teammate, he opted for an individual action. The Oilers forward toyed with the Philadelphia defense, whereupon his subsequent finish ended up in the net.

He also assisted on goals by Zach Hyman, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, who scored twice, and Leon Draisatiel.

“It’s another nice milestone, a chance to reflect on the work you’ve done. We’re still trying to dig out of the problems we created at the beginning of the season. You need to have a streak like this to get out of that funk. We’ve had some really ugly moments. But we like this side of the season a lot more,” a satisfied McDavid said after the game

“The Flyers are a hard-working team, they don’t give up much. They defend really well, but we stuck with it and I thought Stu (Edmonton goalie Stuart Skinner) made some great saves. We found a way to score some goals and it was a good win,” the Oilers forward added.

Edmonton is now enjoying its sixth straight win, which puts it in 9th place just outside the playoff spots. The team is now facing a series of games against teams that have not been doing so well lately.

The Oilers should climb even higher up the table with McDavid on the ice. But now they will enjoy a looser schedule before facing Ottawa on January 7.
