Kreider on pace for 500 points

In the New York Rangers vs. Anaheim Ducks game (5: 1), Czech goalie Lukas Dostal unfortunately caught the puck five times, twice from Chris Kreider. The American hockey player broke the five-hundred point mark in the NHL in this game.

He did it in his 761st regular season game, now he has 501 points on 281 goals and 220 assists. He also recorded several shifts in the New York Rangers’ club annals.

His 281 goals scored for this traditional NHL club marks the third highest total in franchise history. He pushed Adam Graves, who scored 280 goals for the club, into fourth place. However, Rod Gilbert (406) scored the most goals in team history and Jean Ratelle (336) is second.

In addition, Kreider scored a power-play goal number 100. According to the club annals, he is only the fourth player to do so. The record is held by Camille Henry (116), second is Rod Gilbert (108) and the current Rangers star is still ahead of legendary American defenseman Brian Leetch (106).

Luongo gets a big honor from the Canucks

Legendary goaltender Robert Luongo received another huge tribute. There is no greater honour for a player in the NHL than being inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto. But he has already done that in 2022. We can also mention the hanging of his jersey and the retiring of his number.

This time, however, Luongo got to see the team he played a substantial part of his career for induct him into their circle of fame. With the Canucks, he holds club records for games won (252) and clean sheets (38).

Luongo confided in Canucks fans at the ceremony that he has many fond memories associated with the club. The legendary goaltender was joined on the ice by his former teammates, twins Henrik and Daniel Sedin, his wife and children.

Of course, there was also a mention of the 2010 Olympic gold medal campaign hosted by Vancouver. To date, he ranks fourth on the historical charts in number of regular season wins (489). It’s just a shame that he never received the Vezina Trophy, awarded to the best goaltender of the season, for his performance. He made the final three several times, but someone else always took the top prize.
