The current season of the Canadian-American NHL probably won’t offer many more beautiful goals. Steven Stamkos literally shot down the Oilers with an almost unimaginable cannon, Tampa Bay, thanks to its captain, won 7:4 in Edmonton.
The Tampa Bay Lightning played their thirty-first game in the current season of the Canadian-American NHL in Edmonton, and despite the others, this game was absolutely phenomenal for the team from Florida.
Steven Stamkos opened the scoring after just one minute of play, taking advantage of a power play after assists from Nick Paul and Nikita Kucherov. It should be noted that for the Bolts captain it was his 200th goal in the NHL when outnumbered.
About six minutes later it was 2:0 when Tyler Motte scored. In the second period, the home team turned the game in their favour. First Darnell Nurse scored shorthanded, then Connor McDavid and Zach Hyman scored on power plays.
But the third period belonged to Tampa. In particular, Stamkos put on a gala performance, which the visiting fans certainly enjoyed. The thirty-three year old Canadian first tied the game at 46:48 with a spectacular goal at 3:3.
At 52:47, Kucherov took the lead for Tampa Bay. The Russian forward scored three points in the game and became the first player in the NHL to reach the 50-point mark (20+30).
And finally, with less than six minutes to go, Stamkos scored an incredible shot to make it 5:3 and complete the twelfth hat trick of his career. You can see all three goals in the attached post below.
Stamkos scores 4 goals in one game for the first time in his career
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins got the Oilers’ hopes alive two and a half minutes before the final buzzer, but the game without a goalie didn’t go the way of the home team. First, Anthony Cirelli scored into the empty net and seven seconds before the end Stamkos scored his fourth goal of the game.
It should be added, after an assist from Kucherov, who reached the aforementioned 50 points. However, Tampa Bay is still on the non-relegation ranks after the big win, and if it wants to make the playoffs, it has to work hard.
He currently has 33 points. Edmonton, on the other hand, is in tenth place in the Western Conference with 27 points and the Oilers are also out of the playoff position.
