Cristiano Ronaldo has invested nearly a billion in the creation of a new football video game! It is meant to compete with EAFC. A major milestone, say the creators
Football video game lovers are in for some great news. The EAFC should see some interesting competition in the form of the UFL. It certainly shouldn’t be a second-rate project. The star Cristiano Ronaldo has invested a lot of money in it.
Football video game lovers are in for some great news. The EAFC should see some interesting competition in the form of the UFL. It certainly shouldn’t be a second-rate project. The star Cristiano Ronaldo has invested a lot of money in it.
The EAFC, formerly FIFA, is currently virtually unrivalled. Previously, the creators of KONAMI tried to measure up to the popular video game from EA Sports with the Pro Evolution Soccer brand, however, in recent years FIFA has simply been better and Pro Evolution Soccer has more or less been non-existent since 2021.
The Pro Evolution Soccer video game has become the eFootball brand, which is basically unheard of. The model has changed, everything has changed. So FIFA, now EAFC, has lost its only competition.
In doing so, it has been addressed for several years that EA Sports has not improved its famous game much. There is a lot of criticism, but when there is no competition and players have nothing to reach for, of course they will buy the game anyway, and EAFC will certainly not lose out to the creators, even if there are no revolutionary changes.
During 2021, however, there was news that a new video game was to be created under the name UFL. This is still being created by Strikerz Inc. and has been in development for over five years. It was expected that it could be released in 2023, but so far that hasn’t happened.
No official release date has been announced yet, but a testing phase began in the fall. UFL will be playable on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S consoles.
Now, in addition, the UFL brand has announced big news. One of the investors is Cristiano Ronaldo, who has invested a lot of money in the creation of the new video game.
Cristiano Ronaldo invests in UFL video game
Cristiano Ronaldo was unveiled on Tuesday as another investor in the emerging video game UFL. He is part of a group of investors that has decided to invest over $40 million, or nearly a billion crowns, in the game’s development.
Ronaldo is a world-renowned figure, so in addition to finances, he will also help UFL with marketing. Just the fact that he is associated with the brand will definitely be very crucial for the new football video game as it will reach a lot of people.
The UFL then has a clear goal. It’s meant to be a direct competition to EAFC, while operating on a free-to-play model, meaning it’s meant to be free. It wants to build on this by emphasising fairness for players.
“I’m excited to be a part of this project. The UFL can become a new kind of football game,” Cristiano Ronaldo said, according to Business Wire.
“Bringing Cristiano on board as a partner and investor is a significant step forward and a validation of our vision to create the premier game for football fans around the world. The UFL is committed to innovation, technology and entertainment. We see significant potential to do things differently in the gaming industry. This is an ambition shared by Cristiano. We are thrilled to be working together,” says Strikerz Inc. CEO Eugene Nashilov.
UFL’s creators believe it fills a gap in the football game market. It promises not only a rich gaming experience, but also continuous progression, exceptional gameplay, rewarding tactical knowledge and gameplay skills. Players are to be given the opportunity to build a club from the ground up.
