In the game NY Islanders vs Toronto Maple Leafs (4:3p) John Tavares scored a goal and an assist, unfortunately it was not enough for him to win. However, it was for points with serial numbers 999 and 1000. The spicy part is that he achieved this milestone against his former team.

The 33-year-old reached the mark in his 1,054th regular season game played and is the 98th player in history to surpass the mark. Moreover, he did it against the team he spent 9 seasons with (2009-18). In 2009, the New York Islanders made him the number one pick in the draft.

Before the 2018-19 season, he moved to the Toronto Maple Leafs, where he signed a seven-year, $77 million contract, which, with an average of $11 million per season, still makes him one of the highest paid players in the entire NHL.

So far in his overseas career, he has managed to break the 30-goal mark six times and the 80-point mark five times. In 2015, he was also a member of the 1st All-Star team of the best five of the season. He also had the honour of taking part in the NHL All-Star game six times.

Jamie Benn has 500 assists in the NHL

The Dallas forward recorded an assist on the opening goal in the 6-3 home win against the Detroit Red Wings. It was the 500th anniversary. it was his 500th assist in the regular season. He is only the third player in Stars history to reach the milestone.

Only club legend and Hockey Hall of Fame member Mike Modano (802) and Neal Broten (593) have recorded more. It was American forward Broten who also tied Dallas for second in points with 867 (367+500).
