What’s the Premier League buzz: Will Salah win Liverpool the title? And will the relegation fight be boring this year?

Before the national break, the top of the table is level, while the teams from the relegation zone are gaining ground. In the next part of the series, in which we analyse the latest news from the world of English football, in addition to the fight for salvation, we will also look at Liverpool.

Salah makes the title

A much overrated interlude, but Mohamed Salah makes a mediocre squad an adept title contender. In doing so, it is still being addressed that the Reds lack a classic defensive shield in midfield. Wataru Endo has not yet adapted to the PL.

The Reds’ performances are not 100%, they often have to turn the development around, on the other hand they usually manage to do so, which speaks of a strong character. Salah has an incredible 10+4 in the league and Liverpool are only a point behind Manchester City.

Alongside Salah, Anfield is also a factor for Liverpool. None of the title contenders have such a raucous home atmosphere. The Reds will beat anyone on their own ground, that’s been true for a long time. Especially under Jürgen Klopp.

Is there any clarity on the last four?

Last year there were still seven teams in contention for relegation with two months to go, this year it looks like a considerably more boring fight. Specifically, four will be jockeying for one quiet place. Sheffield, Burnley, Luton and Bournemouth.

That foursome is currently three points clear of 16th-placed Fulham. Respectively, that’s how many Cherries are behind, Luton are six points adrift and Burnley are even seven behind Sheffield. And that’s quite a gap in the top third of the competition.

Moreover, Bournemouth showed at the weekend that they are a step ahead of all three newcomers. The squad has had a year among the elite, they can do it at the Vitality Stadium. Burnley and Sheffield, on the other hand, are picking up one negative record after another.

Of course, it’s too early to make premature judgements, but this year the newcomers are clearly the worst performers so far. Who else can fall between them? Certainly Fulham, who are without a top striker and are likely to see their most important man, Joao Palhinha, leave in the winter.
