That was awesome! Kudus starts West Ham’s turnaround beautifully, but the Hammers don’t take a point from Brentford

The Premier League offered seven games in the eleventh round on Saturday, one of which was Brentford’s clash with West Ham. Although the visitors didn’t win the match and didn’t take a point, the positive was a spectacular goal by Mohammed Kudus.

Brentford had a better start to the game when Neal Maupay opened the scoring in the eleventh minute.

However, the lead didn’t last long for the home side. Eight minutes after the opening goal, Mohammed Kudus came through and scored a really nice goal. You can see the whole situation in the video below.

The score of this match moved again in the next seven minutes. Jarrod Bowen increased the score to 2: 1 for West Ham when he got to a deflected ball and sent the ball behind the back of goalkeeper Mark Flekken.

Although the situation was then still controlled by VAR, the head referee then admitted that Bowen had reached the successful shot in a regular manner.

By the end of the first half, West Ham could have increased their lead, with Mikhail Antonio getting a promising chance. However, he missed the left post from inside the penalty area. Both teams went into the box with a 1:2 scoreline after the first half.

Second half

Brentford again came into the second half with a strong contribution from the visitors to equalise at 2:2. Defender Konstantinos Mavropanos headed the ball into his own net.

It was the home side who had more of the play in these minutes. And they made the most of it, scoring the winning goal in the 70th minute. This time it was Michael Collins, who took a good touch on Mathias Jensen’s centre and headed the ball into the net.

In the final minutes, the fans saw two more great chances – Pablo Fornals could have equalised on one side and Maupay could have increased the lead on the other. However, neither of the chances produced ended in a goal.

So Brentford beat West Ham 3-2. Of course, two Czech players – Tomáš Souček and Vladimír Coufal – also started the match. But they did not help their team to gain at least one point.
