The first goal in the match between Carolina and Nashville was scored after five and a half minutes of play. Teuvo Teravainen scored on the power play, assisted by Dmitrij Orlov and Czech forward Martin Nečas.
That was it for the first period, both teams went into the locker room with the score 1:0 to the Hurricanes. However, the visitors managed to tie the game in the middle period when Yakov Trenin scored at 33:58.
But the home team took the lead back. Fifty-two seconds left in the second period, Seth Jarvis sent the Canes into the lead, assisted by Sebastian Aho.
And in the third period Carolina just confirmed their victory. At 55:22, forward Necas was directly involved. After passes from Kotkaniemi and Teravainen, he didn’t hesitate to shoot and swept the web beautifully.
It was the first goal for Nečas in the Hurricanes’ preparation and, along with an assist, his first points. The Czech forward scored 1+1 in the game and helped his team to victory.
Twenty-three seconds after Nečas’s goal, Michael Bunting made it 4-1. It was the last game for Carolina in preparation. They played six games, winning three and losing three.
The Hurricanes will start the new NHL season on October 12 when they take on the Ottawa Senators. The Hurricanes will play seven road games in the season opener, with a home game against Seattle at the end of October.
