Naples has not started the new season ideally, starting slowly, but they have to solve several problems. There has been a lot of talk about the atmosphere in the cabin or whether Rudi Garcia can succeed as coach and build on predecessor Luciano Spalletti.
After the title season, euphoria reigned under Vesuvius, and it was hoped to emulate the last Champions League campaign, which was the most successful in the club’s history, even though it ended in the quarter-finals.
However, the Partenopei made it through the opening round of the millionaire competition by winning on Braga’s soil. In the second round, however, they faced a tougher task. In fact, one of the toughest possible. Real Madrid arrived at the shrine named after Diego Maradona.
It was going to be an attractive and attacking game and that’s exactly what the fans were treated to from the start. Indeed, the first half offered over 20 shot attempts, the game was evenly matched and we saw three goals.
In the 19th minute, defender Leo Ostigard sent the home side into the lead, only for Real Madrid’s gem and summer signing Jude Bellingham to take over. In the 27th minute he crossed for Vinicius Junior’s goal and seven minutes later scored himself.
And how! He basically took the ball in the middle of the pitch and continued almost all the way to the goal. He toyed with the entire Naples defence, which seemed to be non-existent. And Real Madrid went 2-1 up.
Bellingham continues his phenomenal performances and shows that the Spanish giant spent more than 100 million euros for him. In 9 games he scored 8 goals and added 3 assists. Was it a daylight steal? Some fans think so.
