Human error, VAR apologises, cost Liverpool a botched game. I’ve never seen such a crazy decision in my life, reacted an angry Klopp after Tottenham game

Failure of the human factor, that’s the official comment on the decision not to concede Luis Díaz’s goal. After the Tottenham game, Jurgen Klopp described his team’s defeat as a match with the craziest decisions he has ever seen in his career. A very wild game Liverpool lost only at the very end because of an own goal. However, VAR was the main actor.

It was undoubtedly a very interesting game and one you just don’t see. Striker Díaz was able to celebrate his goal in the 33rd minute when he beat goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario. However, the goal was cancelled out for VAR’s blessing. However, defender Cristian Romero was decisively in front of Díaz with his outstretched foot.

There was a big debate during half-time as to whether or not it was offside. For example, Sky Sports television station said it had no photograph of the lines to confirm offside on Diaz’s cancelled goal.

“It wasn’t offside, they drew the lines wrong,” Klopp responded after the match to the referee’s error.

That was far from all, however, as referee Simon Hooper also sent off Curtis Jones in the first half after his foot went down on the ball and hit his opponent’s shin.

“I’ve never seen such a game with such unfair circumstances and crazy decisions,” continued the German coach, who strongly disagreed with the referee’s decision.

Klopp, however, liked the dedication of his players as they fought like lions with nine men, but unfortunately their fierce performance was marred by an unfortunate own goal from Joel Matip in the 95th minute, giving Spurs the win.

Subsequently, however, Professional Game Match Officials Limited, the body responsible for deciding matches in English professional football, admitted that their decision regarding Diaz’s offside was wrong.

“The PGMOL acknowledges that there was a significant human error during the first half of the Tottenham vs Liverpool match,” the official statement read.

Unfortunately, the apology will not bring back points for Liverpool, while Spurs have climbed ahead of Arsenal into second place behind leaders Manchester City, who have a one-point lead on the two London clubs, who are the only unbeaten sides in the current Premier League season.
