The NFL has recently officially announced that Tottenham Hotspur’s stadium will be the home of the competition in the UK.
The stadium will therefore host at least two games a year, with the agreement between the English club and the North American competition running until 2029.
Wembley was the first stadium to host an NFL game outside of US territory. But it seems that the competition’s management sees more potential in Tottenham’s stadium. The stadium also has dedicated changing rooms, media and medical facilities and, above all, a pitch that is suitable for the NFL.
Six games have been played at the stadium so far, with more than 120,000 spectators passing through the gates between 2019 and 2022.
It is also economically beneficial for London, with the event contributing around £300 million a year to the city. The NFL is thus additionally showing that it is committed to international growth. The UK is opening the door to Europe for this competition.
The NFL will return to London again this year, specifically on the first, eighth and fifteenth of October. First, a game between the Atlanta Falcons and the Jacksonville Jaguars will take place at Wembley.
The next two games will be played at Tottenham Stadium, when Jacksonville and the Buffalo Bills will face each other, and on October 15, fans can look forward to the Baltimore Ravens versus the Tennessee Titans.
