Karolina Pliskova is undoubtedly having one of her worst seasons. She didn’t do too well at the US Open either, where she dropped out in the second round. Therefore, she is expected to have another slump in the upcoming edition of the WTA rankings.

Even this year, Karolina Pliskova has not yet managed to end her long wait for a trophy. The last one she won so far was in Brisbane in 2020. In the current year, she has not even played a single final.

Her biggest success is definitely the quarterfinals of the Australian Open, in which she unfortunately lost to Magda Linette of Poland after 3:6 and 5:7. The quarterfinals in Dubai are also worth mentioning.

The thirty-one-year-old native of Louny has not scored two consecutive victories since the tournament in Stuttgart, Germany, which was played indoors on clay. Since May, she has a terrible record of three wins and nine losses.

This is of course also reflected in the rankings for the current calendar year. In it, we can find the 2021 Wimbledon finalist at 29th place with 1226 points.

Since the three-time Fed Cup winner was unable to defend last year’s quarter-final at the US Open and crashed out in the second round against Clara Burel, she is also facing a drop in the WTA rankings.

She will drop from her current 25th position to 34th. It could be even worse if Peyton Stearns or Xinyu Wang make it to the quarterfinals of the final Grand Slam tournament of the year.

The former world number one will play her next tournament in San Diego next week. Last year, she reached the eighth round there, where she was defeated by Dona Vekic. It will definitely be interesting to see if Pliskova can improve her performance.
