Polished misery? Frankfurt bought 3 talents for €29 million and then sold them for €208 million. So far, however, they have always burned out. Will Muani’s case be different?

Frankfurt have been very lucky with their strikers lately. However, they’ve all been burnt out after transferring to another club so far. Now, however, the German club has managed to sell Randal Kolo Muani for €95 million to PSG, will the French talent break the curse of his predecessors?

Sébastien Haller – (€7 million – €50 million = €43 million profit)

Haller arrived at Frankfurt in the summer of 2017 for €7 million from Utrecht and has done well. He scored 33 goals in 77 games and added 19 assists. As a result, West Ham United reached for him in 2019, paying Eintracht €50 million for him.

However, things didn’t sit too well for him in the Premier League, as he scored 14 goals in 54 games and then moved to Ajax to restart his career, where he now kicks for Borussia Dortmund.

Haller, however, has done something completely different, winning his battle with an insidious illness. He is most likely no longer worried about any sporting setbacks and is enjoying everything.

Luka Jovic – (€22 million – €63 million = €41 million profit)

Jovic had a great season with Haller at Frankfurt, leaving after 93 games, scoring 40 goals and adding 10 assists.

The Serbian striker first appeared in the Bundesliga on loan with Benfica, after which Frankfurt bought him out in the summer of 2019 for €22 million. A day later, he immediately sold him to Real Madrid for €63 million.

Today, however, Jovic can be described as one of Real Madrid’s worst transfers, for whom he eventually played 51 games, but scored only 3 goals and left as a free agent in the summer of 2022 to Fiorentina, where he stayed for one season, signing a last-minute deal with AC Milan.

Randal Kolo Muani – (free – €95 million = €95 million profit)

A literally twisted transfer was eventually managed by all parties in time. Muani cost PSG 95 million, which is a really big contribution to the Frankfurt club’s coffers, considering the talented Frenchman came for free from Nantes last season.

He says goodbye to Frankfurt after 50 games played, in which he scored 26 goals and assisted 17 more. He will face a lot of competition in Paris, so it will be interesting to see if he succeeds or follows in the footsteps of his predecessors.

Frankfurt, however, came up with €179 million for these three strikers, a very nice sum that they will surely continue to invest in other interesting talents. However, Muani’s departure will be felt and it will take some time for the German outfit to find an adequate replacement again.
