Manchester United will let Mason Greenwood leave after considering the very strong criticism against his return back to the Red Devils, according to The Sun. So after much procrastination, it seems to be clear, the question is who else will offer him a contract.
Greenwood last played in the 2021/22 season and only until February. At such a young age, the 181 cm tall forward had already 129 games in the Red Devils jersey and 35 goals scored. He even made his debut for the England national team.
But then an avalanche ensued, which the promising English striker did not stop when he was charged with attempted assault. In February, however, all charges were dropped, but his name was so tarnished in the world that it resonates with the English public to this day.
Recently, the Manchester United women’s team has spoken out against his return to Old Trafford and the fans, at least a significant portion of them, are also against it.
The Manchester club announced that they would make a decision about Greenwood by the beginning of this season, but this has not happened. One can only speculate whether the management waited for the public reaction, which they certainly got. Of course, it was nothing positive.
Without a doubt, he is a great talent in whom the owners have a large fortune, it’s just that money isn’t everything, as they are now convincing themselves, and they will probably have to let Greenwood go.
As for possible destinations, there have been reports of a move to Italy or Turkey floating around the internet. More specific speculation then talked directly about Atalanta, which apparently has been linked and quite possibly discussed because of the now Red Devils striker Rasmus Hojlund, who moved to Old Trafford not long ago.
However, an official statement is still awaited. In fact, we have witnessed similar speculations several times already and since Manchester United have not made a final decision yet, it is obvious that they are carefully considering all options.
However, letting their years of carefully polished gem go elsewhere for free is not exactly to their liking, as you can see.
