Bremen kicked off the season with the DFB-Pokal, where they faced Viktoria Cologne and unfortunately for them, the cup competition is over in the first round. The game went badly from the start.
Defender Amos Pieper went to the showers in the 11th minute. Bremen did manage to score the leading goal before the end of the first half. However, at the end of the game they scored 3 goals and lost 3:2.
Bayern kicked off the season with a duel with RB Leipzig in the Super Cup, but came up against a well-rested Dani Olmo, who scored a hat-trick for Munich. Fresh signing Kane also entered the match and was able to celebrate his first trophy in the first match.
Although Thomas Tuchel’s charges were very active, having the ball on their feet 65% of the time, they failed to score. That leaves Bremen, who should be a much easier opponent to overcome.
Since the autumn of 2012, Bremen have only managed one single draw against Bayern. Werder is thus a very popular opponent for the Bavarian side and there is no sign of that changing.
Jiri Pavlenka will have to put in a miraculous performance, just like his colleagues, if Bremen want to score.
