Bundesliga
Kevin-Prince Boateng has hung up his cleats. How did time go with his active career and where did he become most famous?
He last played for Hertha Berlin. Kevin-Prince Boateng joined Hertha in the summer of 2021, completing one big circle. It was at this German club that he started his career. Most of the football public, however, knew him from AC Milan, where he made life difficult for opposing defences at the beginning of the last decade.

Most of the football public, however, knew him from AC Milan, where he made life difficult for opposing defences at the beginning of the last decade.
Of the brotherly duo, he was probably the less successful. His brother Jerome won the Bundesliga several times with Bayern, and also won the Champions League and the World Cup. Unlike his brother, however, Kevin-Prince preferred to represent Ghana.
Great South Africa, early end for the national team
After a breakthrough 2009/10 season at Portsmouth, he was nominated for the World Cup, which was held in South Africa. He was phenomenal at the tournament, dishing out footballing joy. He is known for his goal in the eight-final against the USA, but Ghana failed in the penalty shootout against Uruguay in the quarter-finals and crashed out.
He was 23 years old and his performances made it widely believed that he would be the one to lead the national team in the years to come. He also had one memorable moment in South Africa. He played against his brother in the group stage, and the Boatengs became the first brothers in World Cup history to play against each other.
Unfortunately, he didn’t give much to his national team career, he even retired from the national team back in 2011, but resumed it again 2 years later.
And on his second debut he scored a goal. However, in 2014 he ended his national team career for good. In total, he played only 15 matches and scored 2 goals. He never played in the Africa Cup of Nations.
He was most famous at AC Milan…
In the autumn of 2011, he was already in his second season at AC Milan, the club where he became most famous. Anyway, even in the red and black jersey, he scored a goal that is etched in the fans’ memory. A Champions League match was played in Barcelona, when he flicked the ball around Eric Abidal and gave Valdes no chance in goal.
However, his club career didn’t take a stellar turn either. After AC Milan’s retreat from European football, Kevin-Prince also seemed to disappear. He changed several clubs in the top European leagues. However, he also played in the lower competitions, for example, alongside Mario Balotelli at Monza in Italy.
Near the end of his career, however, came another stop of a more starry nature. Barcelona reached for Boateng. It was the summer of 2019 when they took him on loan from Sassual for a fee of one million euros. Boateng thus played with Lionel Messi and is registered under the Barcelona title with four starts.
The less successful of the pair of Boateng brothers officially ended his career on 13 August this year. And it’s safe to say he never fulfilled his potential, only coming up with a flash of brilliance here and there.
During his career he played for Tottenham, Dortmund, Portsmouth, AC Milan, Schalke, Las Palmas, Frankfurt, Sassuolo, Barcelona, Monza, Besiktas, Fiorentina and Hertha Berlin. You’d think he’d want to experience such a carousel of clubs.
