MMA is on the rise, but boxing is becoming more popular in the US, where the money is much bigger. This has now been confirmed once again by Jake Paul, who has chosen Nate Diaz as his opponent and both have profited handsomely.

Combat sports are on the rise in Europe. MMA is the most popular here, but in the USA it’s a different story. Yes, almost everyone knows the UFC, but there’s a lot more money in boxing.

That’s why many former MMA fighters switch to boxing, more precisely to exhibitions, where they earn money that they didn’t even get for a few fights in MMA.

Similar is the case with Nate Diaz, a seasoned legend who has now accepted a fight with YouTuber Jake Paul. Paul shines in boxing, but it’s the former MMA fighters he takes as opponents.

He crashed and burned in his last fight with Tommy Fury, but he was enough for Diaz. He hit him with a hard KO, but Diaz eventually got up and the fight went to a points decision with Paul raising his hands above his head.

Diaz can’t be upset though, after all his primary goal was certainly not to win. Everyone who went with Paul knows full well that they’re going to make a hefty chunk of money.

Of course, it’s uncertain exactly how much they both earned, but the most speculated amount is half a million dollars for Diaz and four times that for Paul.

Of course, that’s just the pay per fight, and it also factors in the PPV percentages, which certainly weren’t low. Add to that the money from marketing and collaborations due to the fight and we’re looking at numbers in excess of several million dollars each.

And of course, that’s worth getting in the ring for. Maybe one day we’ll see Paul fight Conor McGregor, but Dana White won’t let him go.
