As for the Inter and AC Milan stadium, there has been constant speculation and new news in recent months. This time, the Italian media has come up with information such that the local authorities in Milan have confirmed that San Siro cannot be demolished.

Milan’s big clubs are in a truly difficult situation. Just hours after Inter joined their city rivals in locking up land outside the city for a new stadium, local authorities have confirmed that the San Siro cannot be demolished.

As already reported by Italian website Calcio e Finanza, AC and Inter are running out of patience with regard to finding areas around San Siro for the construction of a new stadium.

According to recent plans, the new stadium was to be built not far from the current one, or rather in the car section of the current stand.

Then, of course, the old stadium would be demolished. However, the Milan authorities have confirmed in the last few dozen hours that San Siro has been granted a status that protects it against demolition. A status that is granted to monuments or other historic buildings.

Moreover, according to Football Italia, the Milan City Council issued an official statement on Friday evening, in which it also mentioned the protection order.

AC and Inter have been stuck in the clutches of the Italian bureaucracy in recent months, and even now both clubs continue to fail to find a way to meet the target. That, of course, is the construction of a new stadium.

Until a few months ago, the two clubs were working with the Milan City Council on a parallel project, which would have seen a new stadium built on the site of the former Snai horse racing stadium. However, this is not an option either.

For AC, San Donato, which is a short distance from Milan, seems like a more realistic option. Inter have locked up land in the Rozzano area for a change.
