Great news for Czech tennis fans! The Wimbledon final will also include Czech participation. Markéta Vondroušová will challenge Ons Jabeur. The Tunisian tennis player is a slight favourite to win the Grand Slam trophy.

Markéta Vondroušová is currently 42nd in the WTA rankings. This is her best result at Wimbledon and she will play a Grand Slam final for the second time in her career (first time in 2019 at the French Open).

If she manages to win on Saturday, she would move up to the tenth position with 3106 points. This would improve her career best, which so far is a fourteenth place from July 2019.

In her first three matches at the All England Club, the Sokolov native has not lost a set. Only Maria Bouzkova managed to do so in the eighth-final clash between two compatriots, which Vondrousova deservedly won.

She came very close to being eliminated in the quarterfinals against the American Pegula. She was already leading 4:1 in the deciding set and even had a break point to lead 5:1. But she couldn’t take advantage of it, which turned out to be the key moment of the whole match. Vondroušová won five games in a row, which put her in the top four.

In the semifinals, she faced Svitolina, the conqueror of Iga Swiatek. But she did not play well at all, she played only nine winning shots and after 76 minutes she lost after sets 3:6 and 3:6.

Jabeur is currently sixth in the WTA rankings. The former world number two will also be fighting for her first ever Grand Slam trophy. A year ago, she lost to Elena Rybakina in the Wimbledon final.

But this year she is probably in an even better frame of mind. She has found a recipe for beating Kvitova, Rybakina and Sabalenka. The Tunisian has already managed to turn the match around three times after losing the opening set.

The older of the two players is the slight favourite to win. However, Markéta Vondroušová will definitely have something to offer and should dominate at least one set with her unpleasant style for her opponents.
