PSG held a press conference on Wednesday to introduce new coach Luis Enrique. However, it was also attended by club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, who had to face questions about the team’s biggest star. Will Kylian Mbappé stay?
Kylian Mbappé will most likely still be at PSG this season, playing again under a new coach, this time it will be Luis Enrique, former coach of Barcelona or the Spanish national team.
But what’s next? His contract expires in a year, PSG is under pressure and the player confirmed that although he still wants to spend the upcoming season in France, he does not want to sign a new contract.
At the press conference, club boss Nasser Al-Khelaifi had to answer questions about the future of the French gem. He confirmed the long-standing unchanged position of the Parisian club.
“We don’t want to let him leave for free in 2024. Our position is clear. If Kylian wants to stay, we also want him to stay. But he has to sign a new contract. We are not going to lose the best footballer in the world for free, that’s impossible,” Al-Khelaifi is quoted as saying by Fabrizio Romano.
” Mbappé has said he will not leave for free. If he changed his attitude, it’s not my fault.”
Newly appointed coach Enrique also had his say briefly. He didn’t want to say anything publicly, but at least he revealed that he wants to have the best possible team at PSG in order to achieve the desired success.
The situation is being monitored by the world’s big clubs who do not want to miss the chance to get a player who will be among the absolute top in the coming years.
