An engagement in Saudi Arabia? No! Mourinho turned down a tempting offer that would have earned him nearly €100 million

Sixty-year-old José Mourinho has completed his second season at AS Roma. He won the Europa League Conference trophy with the Italian side last year and although he did not win anything last season, he intends to stay with the team. This is despite a tempting offer from Saudi Arabia.
José Mourinho’s career is quite extensive. His first successes came at Porto, where he won the league, the cup, the UEFA Cup and the Champions League. This was followed by a stint at Chelsea, where he lifted the Premier League trophy three times.
At Inter Milan he managed to win the league or the Champions League, and he also won the league at Real Madrid. With Manchester United he won the Europa League trophy and the latest trophy is the one from AS Roma, with whom he won the Conference Europa League in the 2021/22 season.
Almost everywhere he headed he collected trophies, making him one of the best coaches in football history. So it’s no wonder he’s attracting interest from teams that are financially secure.
Mourinho is in Italy for the final year of his contract and seems intent on keeping it. How else can you explain the fact that he turned down an offer that most of us would have taken without blinking an eye.
The offer came from Saudi Arabia, specifically from Al-Ahli, who were to offer the Portuguese a three-year contract during which he would have earned nearly €100 million.
Corriere dello Sport reported about the interest from the Arab world, adding that he should earn 32 million euros for one season, which is 760 million crowns.
This amount is expected to be triple his wages at AS Roma. But Mourinho has so far resisted, showing that not everyone can be bought. Or at least not at that price.
