Overseas competition for Djokovic. Which Americans will be among the Wimbledon co-favorites?

Among the wider favourites for this year’s Wimbledon are several tennis players from the USA. After all, there are four of them among the top thirty tennis players in the ATP rankings. No other country can boast such a number. Which US players should compete most with Djokovic?

Sebastian Korda

The Florida native has hopefully finally shaken off his health problems and prepared well for the grass season. The 22-year-old proved his ability on the fastest surface last week. He reached the semi-finals at the Queen’s Club, where he fell to Alcaraz.

He is currently ranked 25th in the ATP rankings, which equals his career high. He later retracted his words about feeling like one of the favourites for Wimbledon, but his performance at the All England Club may make him a definite favourite for the third Grand Slam.

Frances Tiafoe

Another American in the form of his life. Moreover, the 25-year-old has already joined an elite club. He is among the top ten players on the ATP rankings. One place behind compatriot Fritz

Tiafoe dominated the very first grass tournament of the year when he won in Stuttgart. He showed the heart of a great fighter. During the German tennis event, he reached six tiebreaks and won five of them for himself.

He literally broke the match against Italian Musetti and German Struff in a shortened game. In both cases, he entered it with a lost first set in his back.

Against Struff, he even converted this feat in the final. It would be a big surprise if the number ten seeded player doesn’t go far in the All England Club this year.

Taylor Fritz

The highest ranked American behind the rankings impressed the world public last year with his run at Wimbledon. That ended only in the quarterfinals, where the 25-year-old tennis player staged a five-set battle against Nadal. In the end, the Spaniard rejoiced in the match and won the battle for himself after 3:6, 7:5, 3:6, 7:5, 7:6 sets.

Nadal, however, will not meet Fritz at the All England Club this year. Rather, the question is how he will match his form. Before Wimbledon, he tried two grass tournaments and found his opponent in the second round at both of them.

Fritz certainly has the makings to succeed at Wimbledon this year. His serve and return are excellent. He has already triumphed at Delray Beach this year and will definitely do everything he can to at least repeat his performance last year at Wimbledon.
