WOW, hats off! Glover Teixeira got a really valuable gift from his partner and former champion Pereira. Check out his reaction!
A gift for your mentor? Former UFC champion Alex Pereira paid a little-seen tribute to his mentor by surprising him with a valuable gift. When Glover Teixeira opened his garage door, he couldn’t stop staring.
A gift for your mentor? Former UFC champion Alex Pereira paid a little-seen tribute to his mentor by surprising him with a valuable gift. When Glover Teixeira opened his garage door, he couldn’t stop staring.
He’s enjoying a well-deserved retirement, but still pursuing the love of his life and training the next generation of professional MMA fighters. As a token of his gratitude, his hottest handcuff in the fire had a surprise he wasn’t expecting.
The fight with Jirka Prochazka changed something in him. When he couldn’t defend his UFC welterweight belt after a crazy fight with the Moravian samurai, the hunger in him passed.
In his next fight with current champion Hill, he wasn’t the same old Glover who had pulled off six straight wins with the top of the division. So it was no surprise when, at 43, he retired from a rich career as a professional MMA fighter.
But he hasn’t lost his love for combat sports and is now dedicated to training the next generation of fighters at his Teixeira MMA & Fitness gym in his native Brazil. And it must be added that he is experiencing valuable success as a coach.
After all, his most promising charge, Alex “Poatan” Pereira, won the UFC middleweight championship after just four fights in the biggest MMA league in the world. He owes his success to his older partner, who helped him make the transition from stand-up to MMA.
And Pereira himself knows it. Perhaps taking inspiration from the end of the school year, when teachers receive gifts from their students, Poatan has prepared a really big present for his mentor.
For when Glover returned home, he found a surprise waiting for him in the garage of his house. When he opened the door and uncovered the tarp, he couldn’t believe his eyes. Pereira had bought his friend and teacher a brand-new Harley Davidson.
Teixeira, who is known for his love of motorcycles, was clearly moved and could not find the words to express such a beautiful act of respect for his apprentice. Even though for the former champion, buying such a gift is only a fraction of his income, it still shows the crystal clear character of Pereira. A beautiful gesture, don’t you think?
