The next UFC Fight Night tournament in Jacksonville, Florida, offered a lot of attractive duels that lifted the audience from their seats. During the gala we could see some really bloody fights, but also one really unlucky moment.

A tough finish, a bloody women’s brawl and a new contender for the featherweight title. It was another crazy gala night for the biggest MMA organization in the world, with Ilia Topuria calling out the champion Volkanovski loudly.

But the tournament also offered one unfortunate moment. The crowd was certainly looking forward to a heavyweight bout in which an early finish is always up in the air. But this time the fight between Justin Tafa and Austen Lane ended sooner than anyone would have liked.

Both punchers, who don’t like to leave their matches to the scoring judges, didn’t warm up in the cage again. In fact, after the opening few exchanges, Lane unluckily hit his opponent with fingers to both eyes.

It was such an intense eye-poke that Tafa was unable to continue the match. The footage of the New Zealand fighter’s right eye showed blood even coming out of the rather scratched eye.

No wonder the referee, on the advice of the doctor present, had to stop the fight after less than 30 seconds of the bout.

Lane, of course, came over to Tafa immediately after the fight and apologized for the unfortunate injury. Let’s just hope that the attractive fighter doesn’t suffer any lasting effects.
