It’s definite, Edin Džeko will not continue at the San Siro despite recent reports in the Italian media about a new contract. The Bosnian marksman will move to Istanbul as a free agent, where he will wear the Fenerbahce jersey.
A month ago, it looked like Džeko would continue to wear the black and blue jersey. In fact, Italian news outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport recently reported that the Sarajevo native had agreed to take a pay cut and agreed a one-year contract extension with Inter.
Originally, the Bosnian forward first thought of a two-year extension, as he also had interested parties from the MLS. However, Inter’s management rejected this option and only offered Džeko a 12-month extension to his current deal.
He should have accepted such an offer in the end, as he is simply happy in Milan and wanted to stay at Inter despite the drop in his salary. According to earlier reports in the Italian media, he was to earn five million euros a year.
However, this contract extension will not be signed after all. Fenerbahce, a big Turkish club, has shown great interest in his services.
And now we can say that Džeko will link his future with the Istanbul club. On Thursday morning he will undergo a medical check-up in Turkey, so he will move to Fenerbahce as a free player.
“The world-famous striker Edin Džeko will arrive in Istanbul to undergo medical examinations and complete transfer negotiations,” Fenerbahce said on its Twitter account.

Džeko is expected to sign a two-year contract at Fenerbahce and earn four million euros a year, plus performance bonuses, according to the latest reports.
The 37-year-old Bosnian transferred to Inter in August 2021, when the Nerazzurri snapped him up from AS Roma. They only sent €2.8 million to the Italian capital at the time.
He played a total of 101 competitive matches for Inter, in which he recorded a record of 31+15. In the 2021/22 season, he won the Coppa Italia, twice celebrated winning the Italian Super Cup.
