Wow! The Oktagon has surpassed the UFC, selling more tickets in Oberhausen than the star organization did years ago. Back then, even Vemola was at the event, taking the bonus for the knockout of the night
On Saturday the Czechoslovak organization Oktagon will head to a new city. Oberhausen will host the OKTAGON 44 gala evening in a hall for 13,000 spectators. One of the owners of the organization, Pavol Neruda, boasted great statistics.
Oberhausen may not be a well-known city in the Czech Republic, but thanks to Oktagon, that may now change, at least to some extent. The Czechoslovak organization will be hosting its first gala on Saturday.
However, stars such as John Hathaway, Rony Paradeiser, Zdenek Polivka and the great German talent Hafeni Nafuka will also be in action. No wonder tickets are selling very well.
Moreover, during Friday’s public weigh-in, one of the founders of Oktagon, Pavol Neruda, revealed an interesting piece of information. The organization will sell more tickets here than the UFC, which has shown in Oberhausen in the past.
This was the gala of UFC 122, held on November 13 in 2010. Back then, the best organization on the planet managed to sell 8421 tickets. The same arena will now house the Octagon.
At the UFC event back then, Yushin Okami and Nate Marquardt fought in the main event. Interestingly, Karlos Vémola was also featured, it was his second fight in the organization. He defeated Seth Petruzelli by TKO in the first round to earn the knockout bonus of the night.
“It’s fantastic when you can say we sold more tickets here than the UFC did years ago,” Neruda let slip. While it probably won’t sell out, there are only a few hundred tickets left.
