Disaster for PSG! Mbappé and Ramos injured just 2 weeks before the LM against Bayern, Neymar also missing
Christopher Galtier must have some serious wrinkles on his forehead right now. The PSG coach returned from Montpellier with three points, but also with two injured stars. Kylian Mbappé and Sergio Ramos had to be substituted in the first half.
Christopher Galtier must have some serious wrinkles on his forehead right now. The PSG coach returned from Montpellier with three points, but also with two injured stars. Kylian Mbappé and Sergio Ramos had to be substituted in the first half.
Kylian Mbappé had a rubbish game on Montpellier soil. He wasted a penalty, which the referee allowed to be replayed because of the goalkeeper’s early run out, but he didn’t convert the second attempt and didn’t even hit the empty net from the rebound.
In addition, he limped off the pitch in the 21st minute with what looks like a muscle injury. He left the field on his own, but muscle injuries are very tricky.
In the 30th minute, stopper Sergio Ramos also had to leave the game with a hamstring injury. The Spanish defender was just getting into shape and was holding the PSG defence together.
His injury might not have been serious, but if he was indeed out, it would have been a big blow for PSG. Another stopper, Presnel Kimpembe, is still not training from an achilles injury and Danilo Pereira is a stopper out of necessity.
In addition, Neymar did not enter the game at all as he was rested due to a muscle strain. The doctors of the Parisian giant are thus currently on high alert.
And all this just two weeks before the duel with Bayern Munich in the Champions League semi-finals. The latter, however, is absolutely crucial for PSG, because winning Ligue 1 no longer means anything to the management. The Qatari Sheikhs want to win the Eared Cup at all costs and to drop out for the second time in a row in the eighth round would be a disaster.
Bayern are also up in arms, with fresh signing João Cancelo contributing to a 4-0 win over Mainz yesterday. Moreover, as the group winner and the runner-up in the draw, Munich will play the rematch at home.
