Goal of the year? In the final seconds of the game, Humphrys dispossessed his opponents and scored from halfway across the pitch! Check out this great shot
The Scottish League may be overlooked, but it has an undeniable quality. It offers a great atmosphere, typical island toughness and beautiful football moments. One of those moments was provided by Stephen Humphrys on Saturday, whose strike should not be missed in the nominations for goal of the year.

Heart of Midlothians, or Hearts for short, are having a hilarious season. They are not quite catching first Celtic and second Rangers, but they are holding a nice third place and it doesn’t look like it will be occupied by anyone else.
The team is mainly driven by Scottish striker Lawrence Shankland, who has scored 21 competitive goals this season. He also scored in Saturday’s game against Dundee United, which Hearts won 3-1.
However, Shankland was overshadowed by his teammate Stephen Humphrys. The latter is on loan from Wigan and plays more of a joker role. He hasn’t featured much in the starting line-up, but he showed against Dundee that he deserves more time.
In the last seconds of the game, he won the ball in front of his own sixteen in the 2-1 scoreline. He was able to break free from the encirclement of his opponents and headed it towards the halfway line.
Then Humphrys took a shot from outside the box and scored. He increased the score to 3-1 and made it a sensational goal.
It was only the fourth goal this season for the 25-year-old English striker. But it may well have been the best of his career. His goal should definitely not be missing from the nominations for goal of the year.
It’s worth noting then that Dundee United are the last team in the Scottish Premiership. In their next game, Hearts face penultimate placed Motherwell.
