Real Madrid celebrate their progress to the semi-finals of the Spanish Cup after beating Atlético Madrid. The turnaround of the match was started by a wonderful individual action by substitute youngster Rodrygo and finished at the very end by Vinícius Jr.

The quarter-final match of the Spanish Copa del Rey offered an interesting spectacle. The clash between the city rivals was accompanied by controversial incidents involving fans of the red and white Madrid side.

The day before the match, a banner reading “Madrid hates Real Madrid” appeared on the bridge next to the IFEMA exhibition centre, in front of the Ciudad Deportiva, where Real Madrid is based, and a mannequin wearing a Real Madrid jersey with the name Vinícius hanging from the bridge.

The match was played with a picture of a man with the name of Deportivo de Madrid

After less than twenty minutes, Atlético Madrid scored the opening goal, scored by Real Madrid’s Álvaro Morata. During the first half, Carlo Ancelotti had to deal with another hit to an already very thin defence.

Shortly before the whistle, Ferland Mendy was injured. Eduardo Camavinga moved to the left side of the defence and made a more than worthy substitution. This is evidenced by the fact that he was voted player of the match.

With less than a quarter of an hour left in the game, Rodrygo took the ball and made training cones out of the defenders, and with a wonderful action, he equalised the game, by the end of which nothing more happened and the game went into extra time.

Ten minutes after the start of extra time, Stefan Savic weakened his team with a second yellow card. The game was decided by Karim Benzema, who got to a deflected ball with a minute left in the first part of extra time, which he slotted behind the Slovenian goalkeeper.

Vinícius added the finishing touch, running through a tired Atlético defence to finish. This gave the Brazilian a chance to respond to the disgusting insults from the Atlético fans. So, advancing alone is the best answer.

Real Madrid can celebrate their progression to the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey, where they will meet one of the following clubs: Osasuna, Barcelona and Athletico Bilbao.
