One of the best goalkeepers not only in Italian, European, but also in world football. The legendary Gianluigi Buffon celebrates his 45th birthday today, 28 January, and the vast majority of fans rightly call him a true playing legend.
Despite his advanced age, Buffon still hasn’t hung up his cleats, even though he no longer operates at the top European level.
In July 2021, he returned from Juventus to Parma, the second Italian top flight where he started his professional football career.
The Turin giant brought Buffon in the summer of 2001 and it was in his jersey that he spent most of his prolific career. For just under €53 million, it should be noted. That’s certainly not a small sum even by today’s standards.

He won an incredible ten championship titles with the Italian club, and also won the Italian Cup five times and the Super Cup six times. In addition, he also won the Italian Cup with Parma, with whom he also won the UEFA Cup (the former equivalent of the Europa League – ed.).
Both in the 1998/99 season. He also won the championship with PSG in the 2018/19 season. He was an indispensable member of the Italian national team, with whom he won gold at the 2006 World Cup.
