Italian big club AC Milan have provided new information regarding negotiations for a new contract with Portuguese star Rafael Leão. According to the official report of the Rossoneri, the previous speculations were not based on truth and the club is still negotiating a new contract with him.
Rafael Leão is undoubtedly already a star of European calibre and a great hope for Portuguese football. It was the left winger who was one of the driving forces behind AC Milan’s title chase last season.
However, Leão’s current contract expires at the end of June next year and the Rossoneri have been in talks with him for some time to extend it.
Needless to say, the Milanese certainly know full well what a treasure they have in the 23-year-old Almada native. This is evidenced, for example, by the price tag that the AC management has set for his possible transfer.
PSG already showed interest in Leão last season. However, the message from Milan was clear – €100 million or nothing. It should be added, a similar amount was also offered earlier by Chelsea in London, while the Rossoneri rejected the offer.
Recently, however, there have been rumours that all negotiations for a new contract with the Portuguese star have collapsed. A few dozen minutes ago, however, respected journalist Fabrizio Romano came forward with the information that these speculations were not based on truth.
” The stories about the collapse of negotiations with Leão for a new contract are false – and also damage the image of the club and the player. AC Milan is still negotiating with Leão in a professional manner.”
Moreover, the subsequent response that Leão himself posted via his Twitter account to Roman speaks volumes.
Leão transferred to AC in August 2019, from French side Lille for just under €30 million. During that time, he has already played 142 games across all competitions in the red and black jersey, scoring 36 goals and assisting on another 30.
