That’s never happened before. The Bordeaux director flew in for reinforcements, but his passport and computer were stolen and the transfer was off
You don’t see such a bizarre (non)transfer like that. Girondins Bordeaux wanted to step up at the last minute and bring in a young striker, sporting director Admar Lopes was even on his way to a meeting. But his passport was stolen and Lopes couldn’t go anywhere.

Bordeaux fans are going through a difficult time. Last season their team was relegated from the top French competition, now they are fighting their way back to the top in Ligue 2.
Bordeaux are in third place with 36 points, while second-placed Sochaux have the same number and a better score. The first Le Havre collected 46 points.
Bordeaux brought in Romanian Alexi Pitua, but important striker Alberth Elis left for Brest and the management wanted to bring in a replacement.
The club’s sporting director Admar Lopes thus negotiated the transfer of a young foreign player, whose name was not disclosed, on the last day of the transfer window.
However, Lopes was unable to travel to the meeting as his bag containing his personal belongings, where his passport and computer were stolen, according to the Sudouest newspaper. Thus, he could not travel to the foreign country where he was supposed to negotiate for the reinforcements.
And because the seller insisted on a face-to-face meeting, not a phone call, the entire transfer was scrapped. Bordeaux thus lost a reinforcement in a very curious way.
It has happened several times that a club has been too slow in the paperwork and thus blocked a transfer in the last hours of the transfer window, the last time it happened with Hakim Ziyech from Chelsea to PSG.
Of course, for a transfer not to go through because of a stolen passport, we really haven’t seen such a bizarre thing.
