On Friday, the Bundesliga returns to German turf in style for the first time since November. Leipzig, third in the table, will take on Bayern Munich, first in the table. What to expect from the match and what to bet on?
Leipzig will enter the second part of the season after thrashing Mlada Boleslav 4-0 in the dress rehearsal. They are third in the table, but only one point ahead of fifth-placed Union Berlin and five points ahead of seventh-placed Wolfsburg.
Bayern, after a bad start full of draws, also got off to a good start, drawing 4-4 with Salzburg in a preliminary match. It is traditionally at the top of the Bundesliga, but second-placed Freiburg has just four points less.
Leipzig’s key figures
In the absence of Christopher Nkunku, the home side will rely particularly on Tim Werner, author of nine goals and four assists. Defensive star from the World Cup in Qatar, Joško Gvardiol, also returns to action.
Bayern’s key figures
German talent and offensive all-rounder Jamal Musiala is the most productive player for the visitors with 12 hits and ten assists. Summer signing from Liverpool Sadio Mané, author of 11 goals and four accurate strips, is also doing well.
Leipzig’s offense has been the main success this season, with 30 shots they have the best offense in the Bundesliga after Bayern and Frankfurt. On the other hand, its top scorer Nkunku has dropped out and there is no similarly productive alternative in the team.
Moreover, Bayern has clearly the best defence in the competition with 13 goals scored. It has only scored more than once in two of its seven competitive matches, while it has kept a clean sheet four times.
Considering Musiala’s performance in the World Cup, I think he will help the team break the opponent with his individual quality. Moreover, Bayern’s defense is working, so I recommend to bet on the visitors to win.
