The transfer of Leandro Trossard from Brighton to Arsenal should be officially confirmed in a few hours. And according to Polish website Meczyki, the Belgian striker will not be the only reinforcement of the Gunners. Negotiations for the transfer of Polish stopper Jakub Kiwior from Italian side Spezia are in the final stages.
Jakub Kiwior transferred to Italian Spezia a year and a half ago from Slovakian Zilina. Since then, he has managed to play 43 competitive matches, but has not scored a goal.
But his performances in the defensive phase helped his employer to salvation in Serie A last season. It must be noted, even this season so far, Spezia have managed to be on the rungs guaranteeing salvation in the top competition.
The talented Kiwior’s performances have not escaped the lens of Dortmund, Juventus or Napoli, but it is Arsenal London who are most likely to acquire him into their ranks. “The sensational transfer is almost over,” wrote Polish website Meczyki on Kiwior’s transfer to north London.
The Gunners are expected to pay Spezia a sum that will be roughly around €20 million, according to The Athletic, for example. The participant of this year’s World Cup is expected to sign a five-and-a-half-year contract with Arsenal.
If the negotiations go as expected and Kiwior signs for Arsenal, it will be a surprise transfer for Gunners fans. However, it is certain that this is not a player who will immediately win a place in the starting lineup.
This is an investment for the future and it is possible that the Polish defender could be sent out on loan.
Manager Mikel Arteta took a similar approach with William Saliba, for example, who completed two loan spells in France.
