Arsenal won the North London derby away to Tottenham, winning 2-0 thanks to an excellent first half. After the change of sides, the Gunners were held by goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale. Mikel Arteta’s charges have an eight-point lead at the top of the table.
Arsenal first threatened in the seventh minute when Eddie Nketiah had a good chance after a mistake by the hosts, but Hugo Lloris saved it.
Eight minutes later, the visitors took the lead when Bukay Saka’s centre was knocked into his own net by Hugo Lloris.
Then the home side made the first response, but Heung Min Son was missed in a good position by Aaron Ramsdale. But it was a rare opportunity. The Gunners dominated, and in the 22nd minute Martin Odegaard’s shot from outside the box had to be cleared by Lloris.
And two minutes later, Thomas Partey hit the right post with a superb volley. The game was still essentially one team and in the 37th minute it was two goals to the good. Odegaard fired from outside the box, Lloris had no chance this time.
In stoppage time, after Oleksandr Zinchenko lost the ball unnecessarily, Harry Kane headed dangerously, Ramsdale blinked again. After the change of sides, Dejan Kulusevski fired, but it was well over the Arsenal goal.
Two minutes later, Ramsdale saved, knocking Kane’s effort onto the back post.
The second half was very different, another goal was grabbed by England’s national goalkeeper Ryan Sessegnon. In the 70th minute the visitors threatened after a long spell, Nketiah was saved by Lloris.
Otherwise, the second half belonged to Tottenham, but even substitute Richarlison did not challenge Ramsdale in the 83rd minute. At the end, the Gunners were able to take the lead and after a 2-0 win they are now eight points ahead. Tottenham are fifth.
