Dana White addresses the embarrassing scandal
Dana White is the president of the biggest MMA organization in the world, so he’s regularly under the media’s microscope. Of course, they didn’t miss the video that started making the rounds on social media shortly after the New Year.
The charismatic UFC owner and his wife celebrated the New Year in Mexico. But the celebration turned into an argument between the longtime couple in the later hours and with the clear help of alcohol.
His wife Anne, whom he has known until she was 12 years old, gets up from her chair in the video, and her husband Dana grabs her arm, whereupon she slaps him. Her husband’s reaction was immediate, he slapped his wife back immediately and before they were separated he slapped her again.
How did he react to the slap on his wife?
The leaked video obviously caused a wave of uproar in the media space, so White decided to confront the situation. In an interview with TMZ Sports, he explained the whole situation and apologized for his behavior.
“I’m one of the guys who always said there’s never an excuse for a guy to lay his hand on a woman, and now here I am talking about it to TMZ,” White said. “This is one of those moments that’s awful, I feel embarrassed,” he described his feelings.
“We have three kids, we preferred to show them the video ourselves and now I’m trying to focus my energy on protecting my family, they are everything to me,” he recounted of the difficult family moments. “People will have their own opinions about it and in my case those opinions are correct. Never hit a woman.”
His wife Anne also commented on the unpleasant incident and basically stood up for her husband. “Nothing like that ever happened, unfortunately we both drank too much on New Year’s Eve and things got out of control, on both sides,” she said , according to Talksport, of the incident.
“We talked about it as a family and apologized to each other,” she concluded unequivocally. So this is a very unfortunate incident for the UFC president. After all, he recently announced the league’s new project “fackified” and the said situation will certainly not help him.
