Manchester United entered the Premier League after the World Cup with a great start, taking 9 points from three games. However, they will still need to strengthen to stay in the top four places and possibly challenge for the title.

Substitute goalkeeper

Manchester United brought in Martin Dúbravka as a number two in the summer, who lost his place at Newcastle to Nick Popa. But the Slovakian goalkeeper was only at Old Trafford on loan and the Magpies pulled him back in the winter.

So United now have to solve an unexpected problem, they don’t have a reliable number two for David de Gea. According to the Telegraph, the Red Devils are eyeing Jack Butland from Crystal Palace.

TalkSPORT, on the other hand, reports that United are also targeting Yann Sommer. The Swiss goalkeeper is a stalwart of Borussia Mönchengladbach, so it’s not certain if the penalty specialist would settle for the number two role. Or would he take the number one spot away from De Gea?

Dani Olmo

One of the players United are looking to strengthen in the wing positions is Dani Olmo. The Spanish international at Leipzig reportedly takes a liking to Erik ten Hague and according to Goal, Manchester United are already preparing a bid for the 24-year-old.

Olivier Giroud

Perhaps a slightly surprising solution to the attacking crisis. But United are looking for a typical number nine after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo and see Olivier Giroud as a short-term solution.

the 36-year-old Frenchman showed at the World Cup that he is definitely not yet part of the old iron. He’s showing that at AC Milan, where he’s racked up a 9+5 record this season. In the Premier League, he would have played in a third team after Arsenal and Chelsea.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

On the other hand, who United want to get rid of is Aaron Wan-Bissaka. He has had a solid place in the lineup for three seasons after his arrival at Old Trafford in the summer of 2019, but he has been virtually non-existent under ten Hagem.

Wan-Bissaka has only racked up 4 starts in the Premier League this season, and 3 of those came in the last three games as Dalot returned from the World Cup injured. United already tried to get rid of the right-back in the summer, but it didn’t work out in the end.
