Eden Hazard recently filled the headlines for the first time in a while. Unfortunately, in a negative way, as he struggled in a Real Madrid jersey even against a team from the fourth division. Now his departure is being discussed, with a Turkish big club interested.
It was the summer of 2019. Eden Hazard was one of the best footballers on the planet and Real Madrid had no reason to hesitate about buying him from Chelsea for 115 million euros. The Belgian winger’s contribution was expected to minimise the loss of Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure.
Only, unfortunately, it never happened. The thirty-one year old footballer’s health started to suffer in Spain in a big way, but there was also a lot of questioning about his lifestyle, which understandably affects his recovery.
He is currently in his fourth season at the Santiago Bernabeu. He has appeared in just 73 competitive games, scoring 7 goals and 11 assists. So he has absolutely failed to live up to expectations and still seems to be finding a new low.
The last time he filled the headlines was on Wednesday, when he was given a chance to shine in the cup against a Cacereño side that plays in only the fourth league. But Hazard didn’t get into the game at all and was one of the worst players on the pitch, if not the worst.
His contract at the club expires in the summer of 2024, but even in Madrid he is not expected to keep it. However, the question was who would want him. And a suitor seems to have finally been found.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Turkish side Fenerbahce are interested in Hazard. The Turkish giant’s biggest stars include Michy Batshuayi, Joshua King and Enner Valencia.
It is certain that Real Madrid will not let the Belgian footballer go for free. However, the price is a mystery. The Transfermarkt server currently values Hazard at just €7.5 million. It is not impossible that the financial compensation for his transfer will be in a similar amount.
