Who’s next? Dana White says he plans one more title fight until Prochazka recovers
Not only Czech fans have been expecting Jiří Procházka’s title defence for a long time. However, he got injured and instead of him we will be able to watch one of the pair Jan Blachowicz – Magomed Ankalaev lift the belt. But we will see one more title fight until Prochazka recovers.
And already today it is almost certain who will go for it.
After Jiri Prochazka’s injury, it was soon clear how the division would develop. The main match will be a duel between Jan Blachowicz and Magomed Ankalaev.
Many fans complained that Glover Teixeira didn’t get a chance, however he refused to fight Ankalaev and thus the organization decided not to complicate things further.
Immediately after his return, Procházka will go for the title again, but with whom? Quite possibly it won’t be the winner of the aforementioned duel, as we will see one more fight.
“Blachowicz vs Anklaaev is a great fight. About this whole thing, we have to say that we will still look at Jiri as a champion because he didn’t lose the title, he vacated it. We have a title fight on Saturday and we’ll see how it plays out.
I think we’ll have one more title match before Jiri comes back. But we have to take it one step at a time. I’m looking forward to the title match and the whole card, which is incredibly crowded. But it’s 100% clear that the next challenger then will be Glover Teixeira.
We offered him the fight originally, but he didn’t take it. The way we see it, before Jiri comes back, we’ll get one more fight in which Glover could fight,” said Dana White.
So if Glover gets his chance, we can look forward to his rematch with Prochazka. It would be the second time the Brazilian has gone into a fight as champion, although everyone probably knows how it really is.
