World-renowned Forbes magazine has named Formula One owner Liberty Media as the most valuable empire in sports for 2023, valuing it at nearly $21 billion. This is overwhelmingly thanks to the queen of motorsport, which itself is worth $17.1 billion.
Converted to our currency, that’s almost 400 billion crowns. However, F1’s value is set to continue to rise according to the current trend.
This is indicated not only by the record viewership on ESPN, but also by the new contract, which is said to be worth 15 times the previous amount.
Liberty Media has other interests besides Formula One, the most prominent of all being the Atlanta Braves baseball team.
Liberty Media took over Formula 1 in 2017, and its value has grown significantly in that time, including through the Drive to Survive series on Netflix.
Second on Forbes magazine’s list of the ten most valuable sports empires is Kroenke Sports & Entertainment with a value of $12.75 billion (Arsenal, Denver Nuggets, Colorado Rapids).
Third is Jerry Jones with a value of $11.32 billion (Dallas Cowboys), fourth is Fenway Sports Group (Liverpool FC, Boston Red Sox, Pittsburgh Penguins). The elite five are rounded out by Madison Square Garden Sports (New York Knicks and New York Rangers) with a value of $9.17 billion.
The Glazer family, which owns Manchester United, is eighth on the Forbes list, with a specific value of $7.53 billion.
