The Valencia Grand Prix is the final round of this year’s MotoGP season, and it is at this circuit that the championship will ultimately be decided. Francesco Bagnaia is currently the favourite, with a 23-point lead over second-placed Fabio Quartara.
On Friday, 4 November, the first free practice sessions started at the Valencia circuit. Frenchman Quartararo won FP1 ahead of Marc Márquez by 35 thousandths of a second.
In the second practice session on Friday, however, Luca Marini won, with Jorge Martin taking second place. The Spaniard Márquez finished fourth, Quartararo eighth.
The most serious aspirant to win the title, Italian Bagnaio, failed to win either of the opening practice sessions. He finished FP1 in seventeenth place, FP2 in ninth.
Two more free practice sessions were then scheduled on Saturday morning, with the earlier one featuring several crashes.
The most serious was suffered by Bezzecchi, teammate of FP2 winner Marini (Mooney VR46 Racing Team – ed.)
This crash took place just a few minutes after the start of FP3. Naturally, red flags were immediately waved on the circuit and practice was suspended. Fortunately, the Italian driver walked away after the accident and was not seriously injured.
A very tricky corner on the Spanish circuit was turn 10, where several crashes took place. You can see the others (Enea Bastianini, Remy Fernandez) in the videos below.
In particular, Raul Fernandez suffered a serious crash at turn 10, which brought yellow flags to the circuit. Fortunately, the driver was conscious after the hard crash and was subsequently taken to hospital for further examination.
In the third practice session, Jack Miller on the Ducati took the win, with Johann Zarco second and Brad Binder third. The subsequent fourth practice session was dominated by Miguel Oliveira (Red Bull KTM) ahead of Quartararo. The final qualifying session of the season is scheduled for 14:10 our time.
