The final gates remained closed for the Czechs in Guadalajara. Bouzkova moves into the top 30 after popular tournament
The Czech Republic was well represented in Guadalajara, Mexico. In the end, it was enough to participate in the semi-finals in both the singles and doubles. However, the semifinals remained. For Bouzkova, this is still her most successful event.
The Czech Republic was well represented in Guadalajara, Mexico. In the end, it was enough to participate in the semi-finals in both the singles and doubles. However, the semifinals remained. For Bouzkova, this is still her most successful event.
Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova lost in the semifinals to the Haddad Maiaova-Danilina pair. The top-seeded Czechs and the sure participants of the championship tournament were the clear favourites, but the assumptions were not confirmed.
After sets 2::6 and 7::5 came the tiebreak to ten points, which was dominated by the Brazilian-Kazakh pair with 7::10. The winners of the tournament were the Stefani-Sanders pair.
In the final all 3 possible tiebreaks were played. The final result of the final was 6::7 7::6 and 10::8. Balls won 83 to 86.
Marie Bouzkova was no match for the number four seed from Greece, Maria Sakkari. She lost 7::5 and 6::4 and ended up in the semifinals.
Bouzkova gained enough points to move into the top 30! Maria is 28th in the updated ranking, which is her new career high.
She achieved it thanks to Guadalajara in Mexico. Bouzkova started here in February this year. Although it was a lower category tournament, the final against Stephens still counts.
A year earlier, Marie reached the semi-finals again, where she was not able to beat the later winner Sorribes-Torm. This is certainly the most successful place for the new Czech number two, Marie Bouzkova.
