Holger Rune is a 19-year-old Danish tennis player. He is currently ranked 25th on the ATP rankings, which is also his career high. Thanks to his great performances, he has already secured his place at the Next Gen ATP Finals.
He has already played 68 competitive matches in the calendar year 2022, of which he managed to win 42. Among his greatest achievements are his triumph in Munich, where among others he knocked out Alexander Zverev, and the quarterfinals of the French Open (losing to the late finalist Casper Ruud).
The Danish tennis player also has great results in the indoor environment. In Sofia, Bulgaria, he reached the final, after which he managed to dominate the event in Stockholm. He had to beat Norrie, De Minaur and Tsitsipas on his way to the trophy.
His opponent on Friday will be the 27-year-old Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech. He is ranked 51st on the ATP rankings, with his career high dating back to January this year, when he was ranked 48th.
He is most successful on hard surfaces, where he is able to make the best use of his strength, which is a great serve. In Basel, he had to go through qualifying battles in which he managed to knock out both Kubler and Lestienne. In the main draw he surprisingly defeated Cilic, after which he scored the scalp of Alex Molchan.
The favourite for Friday’s contest is undoubtedly the Dane, who has managed to win eleven of his last twelve matches. If he continues his previous performances, we can expect him to win in two sets.
