The traditional orange or papaya colour combined with black and blue – this is the colour combination that McLaren drivers have been using since the start of this season. However, there will be a slight change for the races in Singapore and Japan.
Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo’s monoblocs will be painted in a special way, with the blue colour disappearing from the cars completely and the black and orange combination prevailing.
A large Chrome sign, signifying the partnership with Google, will be the dominant feature, as will the logos of the OKX cryptographic exchange.
The overalls of both riders will also be differently coloured. And the name of this joint campaign? Future Mode!
McLaren will be running these colours primarily as part of a partnership with OKX, and it’s meant to be a sort of celebration of its return to the Asian continent. For here, in 2020 and 2021, Formula 1 did not race at all due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Statement from the McLaren boss
“We are thrilled to celebrate our partnership with OKX with this bold and vibrant livery for the upcoming races in Asia,” said Zak Brown in an interview with McLaren’s official website.
“McLaren and OKX share a commitment to moving forward and continually pushing the boundaries, and the Future Mode campaign is an opportunity to promote these values together on our global stage. It’s fantastic that we are returning to racing in Singapore and Japan. These incredible circuits are the perfect backdrop for us to celebrate our vision of partnership together,” added the McLaren boss.
A vision of the future, that’s what OKX is all about
OKX Marketing Director Haider Rafique also gave his comments. He said that the design is future-oriented and reflects the nature of OKX and the cryptocurrency markets, which never sleep.
“This new design signals the arrival of a bold new technology and that’s what OKX is all about. The cyberpunk design we have created celebrates the influence of Web3 on popular culture and brings this exciting partnership to life on the racetrack,” added McLaren boss Rafique.
