The highest seeded player will be the twenty-one-year-old Polish tennis player Iga Swiatek. The current world number one is having a great season, losing only seven out of 64 competitive matches. She won the title at the French Open and the US Open.
On the other side of the line-up will be Paula Badosa, a 24-year-old player from Spain and the current world number three. However, she is not doing so well at the moment and won her only title this year in Sydney, Australia.
The number three seed will be Anett Kontaveit of Estonia, the defending champion from last year. She beat Maria Sakkari in the final after 6:2 and 7:5. The Greek tennis player will play the role of the number four seed this year.
However, we must not forget about the home tennis players. Karolína Plíšková or Barbora Krejčíková, who already reached the quarterfinals at the tournament in Tallinn, Estonia, will not be missing. Thanks to a last-minute wild card, Petra Kvitová will also play in front of the home fans.
Other stars coming to Ostrava include Daria Kasatkina, Belinda Bencic, Beatriz Haddad Mai, Jelena Ostapenko, Madison Keys and Ekaterina Alexandrova.
The success of Victoria Azarenka, Shuai Zhang or Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina would not be a surprise either. Tomljanovic, Pera or Kostyuk could qualify for the main event.
