Jelena Ostapenko is playing in great form at the moment. Apart from Petra Kvitova, she had to beat the tournament’s number six Swiatek or Simona Halep on her way to the final. Then she played Kudermetova in the final.
It was not a dramatic match. It lasted only 66 minutes and Ostapenko even gave her opponent a canary in the first set.
Ostapenko dominated the first set. She didn’t even let her opponent to any break point, on the contrary she protected her first two serves with a clean game. After 23 minutes, the Latvian could enjoy a 1:0 lead.
In the second set, Kudermetova came into her own, breaking her opponent in the first game. However, Ostapenko took the break back in the fourth game.
The end of the match was a bit nervous as it ended with three breaks in a row. In the final game, however, Ostapenko took her second match point and went on to win 6:4.
