Is he crazy? The scandalous Zverev attacked the umpire and hit the umpire with his racket. He was ejected from Acapulco
Alexander Zverev was considered the successor to the Big Three, he was supposed to be the next multiple Grand Slam winner and tennis king. But for now, it looks like he’ll have to get his head right before he reaches tennis’ pinnacle. It’s not set right.
Alexander Zverev was considered the successor to the Big Three, he was supposed to be the next multiple Grand Slam winner and tennis king. But for now, it looks like he’ll have to get his head right before he reaches tennis’ pinnacle. It’s not set right.
He’s ranked third in the world, but he hasn’t reached a Grand Slam yet. Largely because of his head, he can’t handle a crisis mentally in difficult moments. The tournament in Acapulco, Mexico, showed that Zverev should work hard on this aspect.
In a prestigious tournament, where the world’s top players play alongside Djokovic, he could prove that he will be a very dangerous opponent this season. But he spoiled everything for himself. And yet, the tournament started brilliantly, with Zverev knocking out Brooksby at 4:55 a.m., rewriting the tennis record for the latest match finish.
But in the doubles, he extremely tarnished his reputation. He and his Brazilian teammate Marcel Melo lost to the Glaspool-Heliövaara pair 2: 6, 6: 4, 6: 10 and the German tennis player couldn’t take this loss at all.
When he was about to shake the umpire’s hand, instead of serving with his right hand, he started hitting the umpire with his racket like a senseless man, just missing the umpire’s feet. Then he cursed him profanely and added another racket blow.
For his totally incomprehensible behaviour, Zverev was expelled from Acapulco and will not play the singles match where he was supposed to face Peter Gojowczyk.
Zverev can be glad that he was only expelled from the tournament, for this unacceptable behaviour he would surely deserve a bigger punishment.
