Karolina Pliskova will play her first match of 2022 on Friday evening, facing Danka Kovinic, a 27-year-old tennis player from Montenegro. The native of Louny is certainly not expecting anything easy, but it is a relatively acceptable draw to start with.
Danka Kovinic is the highest ranked tennis player from Montenegro on the WTA rankings. She is currently ranked 71st. However, her career high is 46th, where she was in January 2016.
In the current season she has played nine matches, five of which she won. However, she didn’t find the recipe against Watson, Inglis, Halep and Rus. However, in the first round at the tournament in Indian Wells, she dealt with Teichmann, which was not expected much.
Karolina Pliskova is a twenty-nine-year-old tennis player from the Czech Republic. Despite a long break, which was caused by a fracture in her right hand, she is currently ranked eighth in the WTA rankings.
It will be the opening match of the season for the former world number one. It is therefore a question of what form she will be in. However, the match is expected to be in her favour. She has had plenty of time to prepare.
“I miss the matches a lot. My arm is improving every day and I believe I will be 100% ready soon,” said Pliskova at the press conference before her departure to the USA.
The fate of the match should be decided by serve, which is definitely not a big weapon of the Montenegrin tennis player. On the contrary, it is a huge advantage for the native of Louny and should make her happy with the victory.
Betting tip | Pliskova will win with a handicap of -2.5 games at odds of 1.46
